Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer Gen 2 RW4012 Overview

The Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer Gen 2 RW4012 brings smart technology into a familiar Wayfarer-inspired frame. Instead of looking like a conventional technology product, it maintains the recognizable eyewear aesthetic while integrating a camera, speakers, microphones, touch controls and Meta AI.

This particular RW4012 configuration features a Shiny Transparent Grey frame paired with Clear/Sapphire Transitions lenses. The model is available in a 53mm lens size and uses a full-rim square frame design.

Smart Design with Everyday Functionality

The Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer Gen 2 RW4012 is designed for users who want smart features without carrying another conventional device. The camera can capture photos and video directly from the glasses, while the built-in speakers allow you to listen to audio without using traditional headphones.

The combination of voice and touch controls provides hands-free interaction with supported functions. This makes the glasses useful for capturing moments, listening to music, making calls and interacting with Meta AI while keeping your phone in your pocket.

Shiny Transparent Grey Frame

This configuration uses a Shiny Transparent Grey frame and temple finish. The transparent finish gives the Wayfarer silhouette a modern appearance while maintaining the recognizable square styling of the model.

The frame uses an injected construction and is listed as a full-rim square design. The 53mm configuration is intended for a larger fit.

Transition Sapphire Lenses

The glasses feature Clear/Sapphire Transitions lenses. Transitions technology allows the lenses to adapt to changing light conditions, making them suitable for users who move between indoor and outdoor environments.

The sapphire appearance adds a distinctive visual finish to the lenses while retaining the smart-glasses functionality of the Ray-Ban Meta platform.

12MP Camera

A built-in 12MP camera enables hands-free photo and video capture. Published specifications list image acquisition at 3024 × 4032 pixels, while video recording can reach up to 3K resolution at 30fps depending on the supported recording mode.

This makes the Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer Gen 2 RW4012 particularly useful for capturing first-person perspectives while travelling, attending events or documenting everyday activities.

Open-Ear Audio

The glasses feature two custom-built open-ear speakers, allowing users to listen to supported audio while remaining aware of their surroundings.

This approach removes the need to wear separate earbuds for compatible listening tasks and keeps the audio system integrated directly into the eyewear.

Five-Microphone Array

The integrated five-microphone array supports calls, voice commands and other audio functions.

Combined with voice controls and Meta AI, the microphone system provides a hands-free interface for supported smart features.

Meta AI

The Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer Gen 2 RW4012 supports Meta AI, allowing users to interact with the glasses using voice commands for supported functions. The Meta AI app is used to manage the glasses, update software, import and share captured media and access supported AI functionality.

Available AI features can vary depending on software, region, account and device compatibility.

Touch and Voice Controls

The smart glasses provide both touch and voice controls.

Touch controls provide a convenient way to interact with supported functions directly from the glasses, while voice commands offer a hands-free alternative.

32GB Storage

The Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer Gen 2 RW4012 includes 32GB flash storage. Published specifications indicate capacity for more than 500 photos or 100+ 30-second videos, depending on the actual file sizes and usage.

The built-in storage means captured media can be stored on the glasses before being imported to a connected smartphone through the Meta AI app.

Wireless Connectivity

The model supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 according to published model specifications.

Wireless connectivity enables communication with compatible smartphones and supports the connected features of the Ray-Ban Meta ecosystem.

Smartphone Compatibility

Published specifications list compatibility with iOS 14.4 and later and Android 10 and later.

The Meta AI app is required to configure and manage the glasses and to access supported connected features.

Battery

The Gen 2 platform is listed with a rechargeable battery offering up to 8 hours of use on a single charge, depending on usage and feature activity.

Actual battery performance can vary depending on camera use, audio playback, calls, AI features and connectivity.
